Chester Lady Jackets win again! 

Varsity Volleyball defeats East Alton-Wood River in two sets, 25-15 and 25-7; Freshmen-Sophomores and JV win to complete the sweep

            The Chester High School Lady Jacket Volleyball Team is on a roll to start the 2026 season. The Jackets swept Anna-Jonesboro on Tuesday August 25 to start the season and won at all levels. Thursday August 27 CHS hosted East Alton –Wood River and swept all three games to earn an early undefeated beginning to the 2026 season.

With the Varsity win, Chester starts out 2-0. Coach Colleen Runge said, “We defeated East Alton-Wood River in our first Cahokia Conference match of the season on Thursday August 27. Our serve game was strong in this game!”

“Taylor Korando led the team with six axes, followed by Joella Eggemeyer who had three aces. The team as a whole was 94% accurate from the serving line. Aubrey Colvis had a great game with eight kills. She really is a dominant middle and moves across the net well. She is versatile and a big offensive threat!”

Tuesday September 1 the Jackets travel to Wesclin for a Cahokia Conference, Illinois Division battle. The Lady Warriors are coming off of a 2-0 non-league win over Okawville who is now 5-0. The loss to the Lady Jackets dropped East Alton-Wood River to a record of 0-4 for the early season.

Aubrey Colvis (# 5), a Chester High School senior volleyball player, had a great game against East Alton-Wood River Thursday August 27. Colvis recorded eight kills in the 25-15 and 25-7 sweep of EAWR. Coach Colleen Runge said, “Aubrey is really dominant in the middle and moves across the net well.
