Sharon Catherine Layton, 77, of Perryville, Missouri went home to be with the Lord Friday, August 21, 2026 at Mercy Hospital Perry County.
She was born November 16, 1949 in Fort Riley, KS to Joseph and Ileene (Angle) Hayden.
She married the love of her life, Gary Layton, on August 30, 1969 at St. Vincent de Paul, Perryville.
She received a degree from Gradwohl school of laboratory techniques in St. Louis, MO and went on to become a medical technologist at Perry County Memorial Hospital, later Mercy Hospital Perry County for 57 years, being most tenured employee at the time.
Devout catholic, Sharon loved God above all things . She was an active member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church donating her time as lector, eucharistic minister, and member of the liturgy committee.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her family. Survivors include husband, Gary; three sons, Scott (Kim) Layton of Perryville, MO, Chad (Sarah) Layton of Perryville, MO, Darren (Brooke) Layton of Kansas City, KS; sister, Linda (Bob) Simpson of Perryville, MO; brother, Joseph (Joann) Hayden Jr. of Perryville, MO; nine grandchildren, Taylor Layton, Zachary (Samantha) Layton, Christian Layton, Alayna (Clay) Titus, Isaac Layton, Ava Layton; Carter Layton, Jackson Layton, Lincoln Layton, one great-grandchild, Remi Titus.
She was preceded in death by her parents .
Visitation will be 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville.
Mass will be at 11:00 am Saturday, August 29, 2026 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville with the Rev. Jason Schumer officiating and Rev. Joe Geders C.M. concelebrating.
Reception will follow at the KC Hall.
