Lawrence “Larry” C. Deterding

LAWRENCE “LARRY” C. DETERDING, 87, of Prairie du Rocher, Illinois, passed away at 4:50 am, Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at Randolph County Care Center, Red Bud, Illinois.

Born on June 30, 1939, in Prairie du Rocher, Illinois, Larry was the son of the late Albert and Dorothy (nee Menke) Deterding. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959.

On November 11, 1962, Larry was united in holy matrimony to Fern DuFrenne at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prairie du Rocher. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, hard work, and devotion to one another.

Larry was a lifelong farmer. For over 50 years, Larry owned and operated Deterding Farming & Trucking, tending to the land and serving his community with unwavering dedication. His deep commitment to agriculture and conservation was reflected in his membership to the Randolph County Farm Bureau. Larry was also a faithful parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church and held the honor of being the longest active member of the Fort de Chartres Sportsman’s Club in Modoc.
