Rev. Charles Shelby C.M., 85, of Perryville, Missouri entered into eternal rest on Thursday, August 6, 2026 at Apostle of Charity Residence.in Perryville,MO.
He was born February 18, 1941 in Los Angeles, CA to Peter Paul and Ruth (Russell) Shelby.
Fr. Charles Shelby C.M. was a Roman Catholic Priest and member of the Congregation of the Mission. He entered the Novitiate at St. Mary’s of the Barrens on September 12, 1962 and he professed his vows at DeAndreis Seminary in Lemont on May 16, 1967. He was Ordained Priest at St. Vincent’s Church in Los Angeles, CA by Bishop John Ward on May 23, 1968. Fr. Shelby was the Director of the Association of the Miraculous Medal for over 25 years. He then served as Vice-Chancellor of DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, August 13, 2026 at the Church of Assumption in Perryville, MO. A Vigil Service will follow at 7:00 pm.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 am Friday, August 14, 2026 at the Church of the Assumption in Perryville, followed by Rite of Committal in the Vincentian Community Cemetery with Rev. Joseph Williams C.M. officiating.
Memorial contributions may be given to Congregation of the Missions.
