JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway has announced that a Madison County jury has convicted 54-year-old Roger Mickan of Fredericktown, of seven counts of Statutory Sodomy in the First Degree for events surrounding the repeated sexual abuse of a child that occurred in 2022.
“This verdict gives the child and their family the justice promised by our laws,” said Attorney General Hanaway. “We will continue fighting for victims of sexual abuse. Through dedicated and expert advocacy, Paige, Regan, and our entire Public Protection Section exemplify the Attorney General’s Office’s commitment hold child abusers fully accountable.”
Over the course of two days, the jury heard testimony from seven witnesses, including the young victim. On July 14, the jury recommended that Mickan serve a sentence totaling 50 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections.
Assistant Attorneys General Paige K. Wheeler and Regan K. Lourenco prosecuted the case with assistance from Investigator Carl Schwartze and Victim Advocate Carrie Boessen. Sentencing is set for Oct. 1, 2026, at 9 a.m. in Madison County.
