KANSAS CITY – The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) in the Midwest Region fell 0.5% in June, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported today. The energy index decreased 5.6%, largely due to a decline in gasoline prices.
The index for food declined 0.1% over the month, while the index for all items less food and energy was unchanged.
The Midwest region all items CPI-U rose 3.8% for the 12 months ending in June. The index for all items less food and energy increased 2.9%, while the energy index saw a 16.0% advance over the year. The index for food was up 2.6%.
