KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Jackson County Circuit Court issued a highly anticipated order upholding the 2024 voter-approved Right to Reproductive Freedom Amendment and permanently striking down numerous abortion bans and restrictions targeting abortion providers. The ruling expands access to include medication abortion.
The No on 3, Stop the Ban Campaign, which is the coalition committed to defeating Amendment 3 and protecting the Right to Reproductive Freedom in the state constitution, issued the following statement:
“Today’s ruling guaranteeing access to medication abortion is a direct result of the passage of the Right to Reproductive Freedom Amendment in 2024 when a majority of Missourians voted to end the politicians’ harmful abortion ban and protect reproductive freedom.
“The same politicians who banned abortion are at it again, this time through the new Amendment 3, which would repeal the Right to Reproductive Freedom Amendment, ban abortion again in nearly all cases, and take away a woman’s right to make her own medical decisions.
“We are sounding the alarm to ensure Missourians know to Vote NO on Amendment 3 to stop politicians from overturning the will of the people, taking control away from families, and once again banning abortion.”
Amendment 3 is the politicians’ attempt to overturn the will of the people and repeal the 2024 voter-approved Right to Reproductive Freedom Amendment that guaranteed the right to access abortion care, birth control, prenatal care, IVF, and maternal health care. It will appear on the November 3rd ballot.
