STE. GENEVIEVE – Fire unit from the Ste. Genevieve County Fire District were called out Saturday morning to Love’s Travel Center at I-55 and Route Y near Bloomsdale by a report of a fire.

According to the district’s report of the incident,
units from Station 2 were dispatched at 12:30 a.m. to Love’s Travel Center for a reported vehicle fire.
While en route, responding crews were advised that a commercial vehicle was heavily involved, with flames visible from a significant distance by responding personnel.
Recognizing the advanced fire conditions, additional resources from Stations 1 and 5, along with Jefferson R-7 Fire Protection District, were requested to assist.
Crews worked for several hours to extinguish the fire and address remaining hot-spots. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
“Great work by all personnel on scene and thank you to our mutual aid partners for their assistance. Incidents like these highlight the importance of teamwork and cooperation in serving our communities,” a fire district official stated.
According to reports the Love’s Travel Center shut down operations during the fire but were back in business an hour after the flames were extinguished.
