JEFFERSON CITY – The Missouri Department of Natural Resources thanks all those who participated in the topic solicitation and discussion related to the upcoming 2028 Listing Methodology Document (LMD). The department greatly values public participation in the development of each LMD.
The department will hold a public meeting on Monday, May 18, 2026, from 10 a.m. to noon, to further discuss the upcoming revision of the 2028 LMD. The purpose of this meeting will be to offer additional clarification and discussion of anticipated areas of change for the draft 2028 LMD.
Previously identified topics that the department plans to address include:
- Determination and documentation of backwater conditions for assessment of dissolved oxygen
- Assessment of losing stream bacteria criteria under general criteria
- Assessment of drinking water toxics such as nitrate
- Assessment of groundwater criteria in losing streams under general criteria
- Reduction and summarization of excerpted numeric nutrient criteria text for lakes
This meeting will be held in-person in the Gasconade Camp Conference Room at the Lewis and Clark State Office Building (1101 Riverside Drive, Jefferson City, MO 65101) with a virtual option available. The meeting link and call-in information will be posted on the department’s Impaired Waters webpage for those wishing to join remotely.
The department will take into consideration all discussion and feedback received as it finalizes the draft 2028 LMD. The department will place the draft 2028 LMD on a 60-day public notice beginning on Monday, June 15, 2026. Public comments on the draft 2028 LMD will be accepted during this time with the comment period ending on Friday, August 14, 2026.
The draft document will be made available for the public to review on the department’s Impaired Waters webpage.
