National Safe Boating Week is May 16-22

JEFFERSON CITY – Colonel Michael A. Turner, superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, would like to remind the citizens of Missouri of the importance of safe boating practices. National Safe Boating Week takes place May 16-22, 2026.

To promote National Safe Boating Week, the Patrol’s marine operations troopers will be available to inspect the required equipment needed on your boat for compliance with state law. Boaters can find a list of all required equipment on the Patrol’s website. Additional requirements include proper registration numbers on both sides of the boat with proper spacing (ex: MO 1234 AB) along with registration stickers on both sides, two-inch spacing before and after numbers, and three-inch-high letters that contrast with the color of the boat.
