Ste. Genevieve Fire District responds to UTV blaze

From a SGFD official statement

STE. GENEVIEVE – At approximately 5:39 p.m. Sunday, April 26, the Ste Genevieve Fire District was dispatched to a vehicle fire near the intersection of St Marys Road and South Main Street.

There was a large dark column of smoke visible from the station as the first trucks responded.

Enroute the firefighters were advised it was a side by side burning near a bridge.

The first truck arrived approximately five minutes after the dispatch to find a side by side fully involved in fire.

One line was stretched from the truck and the fire was quickly brought under control.

It was determined to be a John Deere Gator side by side that caught fire while being operated.

The driver was checked by Ste Genevieve County Ambulance for a minor burn and released.

The vehicle was a total loss and there was damage to the pedestrian bridge over the South Gabouri Creek. Fire crews remained on scene for an hour until the vehicle was removed and assisted with cleanup.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
