Norman L. Light, 89, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 8:22 pm, Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at SIH Memorial Hospital, Carbondale, Illinois.
He was born to the late Cecil and Myrtle (nee Benton) Light on December 9, 1936 in Graniteville, Missouri.
Norman married Virginia Dickerson on August 10, 1968; she survives.
He had worked in the timber business in his earlier years and then had worked for the Casting Foundry in Belleville, Illinois.
Norman enjoyed reading and working on puzzles. He loved to spend time with his family.
He was a United States Army Veteran.
Survivors include his Wife: Virginia Light Chester, IL; One Son: Norman Light, Jr. Chester, IL.; Two Grandchildren: James Kempfer, Jr. and Janielle Kempfer; Three Great Grandchildren: Rystain Kempfer, Kinleigh Kempfer and Aniyah Kempfer; Two Nieces: Barbara Crouch and Jean Rehmer; Nephew: Arthur Berthold; Sister-in-law: Barbara Dickerson
Preceded in Death by: Parents, 2 Daughters – Bernice Light and Tammy Light, 1 Grandson – Edward James Kempfer, 2 Brothers – Loranzo and Lorane Light and 1 Sister – Velma Berthold
It was Norman’s wish to be cremated.
