Commentary from the Desk of Regional Administrator Jim Macy

LENEXA, KAN. – Happy Earth Day, Region 7! Today we’re celebrating our Earth by taking tangible actions at the local level.
This year, our office is focused on highlighting our Region 7 partners under EPA’s Feed It Onward initiative. For more information on food-waste reduction work happening locally, head over to my guest commentary in The Kansas City Star.
Our employees are also engaged in a friendly “Clean It Up Challenge” that encourages everyone to get outside and pick up litter in their community. For ways you can contribute to a healthier planet, visit EPA’s Earth Day webpage.
Earth Day and every day, we’re proud to advance our core mission of protecting human health and the environment. Be sure to watch EPA’s Earth Day message from Deputy Administrator David Fotouhi for more information.
Jim Macy is the administrator for EPA Region 7, which consists of Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and nine Tribal nations. He previously served in leadership roles at Missouri Department of Natural Resources and Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy.
