Festus man hurt in semi truck-car collision on I-55

JEFFERSON CITY – The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports a 20-year-old Festus man was hurt when a car collided with a semi truck on the southbound I-55 in Ste. Genevieve County early Saturday morning.

 

According to the patrol’s report, the man suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Mercy Hospital Jefferson by a Ste. Genevieve County ambulance.

 

The patrol says the crash happened when a southbound 2017 Buick Envision driven by a 35-year-old Bloomsdale woman attempted to change lanes and struck the rear of a southbound 2025 International semi truck driven by a 43-year-old Bartlett, Tennessee man. After the impact, the Buick overturned. The injured man was a passenger in the Buick. Neither the driver nor the passenger in the Buick were buckled up. The drive of the International was buckled up.

 

The Buick had extensive damage and was towed by Boyd’s Towing.

 

The International had minor damage and was secured roadside.

 

The crash happened about 3:20 a.m. at mile marker 159.
