MURPHYSBORO, IL – Egyptian Electric Cooperative Association (EECA) is launching a new initiative this year called Student Support Grants to help schools provide for the everyday needs of their students.
These grants will fund essential items and services that support student well-being so they can focus and learn. Unlike EECA’s Classroom Empowerment Grants, which enhance educational opportunities and classroom spaces, Student Support Grants are designed specifically to meet students’ daily, personal needs.
Eligible items include hygiene products, backpacks, school supplies, clothing closet items, laundry access and supplies, feminine hygiene products, and food pantry items, among other items that support student well being.
For the 2026–2027 school year, EECA will award six (6) $500 grants to schools to purchase these items. Applications will be reviewed anonymously and selected based on demonstrated need and potential impact.
Eligible applicants include school personnel serving public Pre-K through 12th grade students within EECA’s service territory. Schools do not need to receive electric service from EECA to apply.
Applications opened, April 1, and close on May 13. Grant recipients will be announced by July 31, 2026, with funds distributed in August at the start of the school year. Educators and school staff are encouraged to apply if they see a need that this funding could help address.
