Firefighters gather in Jefferson City Wednesday for Annual Fire Fighters Day at the Capitol

JEFFERSON CITY – On Wednesday April 1, firefighters from across Missouri will gather at the Capitol for Fire Fighters Day, an annual recognition of the importance of the fire service in protecting Missourians and their property. This year’s ceremony will call special attention to the importance of professional development training and the certified instructors who annually deliver increasingly diverse training to the thousands of members of Missouri’s fire service.

 

The Division of Fire Safety along with approved fire department training divisions and 15 contracted training partners provided over 250 different courses in 2025, ranging from Basic Fire Fighter training, Fire Fighter I and HazMat Operations, Rope Rescue Operations, Emergency Medical Responder, Fire Instructor and various Leadership development classes.

 

Along with approved fire department training divisions across the state, DFS’s qualified training partners are Alpha Side LLC; Central Missouri Training Specialists; Emergency Operational Solutions; Jefferson County Emergency Services Training Academy; Local Emergency Training Specialists LLC; Missouri Fire Fighter Critical Illness Trust & Pool; Muddy River Training Consultants; National Fire Sprinkler Association, Inc.; Rescue Redefined; Total Technical Rescue Solutions; Under Fire Training Solutions LLC; University of Missouri Fire and Rescue Training Institute; Timothy Intessimone; Russo Law Firm LLC; and Trial By Fire LLC.

 

In 2025, a total of 5,726 Missouri firefighters received training from the training partners listed above.
