JEFFERSON CITY – Four persons were hurt in a three-vehicle traffic crash on I-55 in Ste. Genevieve County Sunday night that began when one of the vehicles hit a deer.
The patrol says the crash began when a southbound 2005 Mitsubishi Lancer driven by a 19-year-old Kirksville woman struck a deer and became disabled in lane one at the 146-mile marker.
The patrol says the Mitsubishi had no headlights activated and was struck by a southbound 2006 Honda Odyssey driven by a 25-year-old Marble Hill man. The driver of the Mitsubishi was not in the vehicle when it was hit.
The patrol says the third vehicle involved in the crash, a 2007 Pontiac G6 driven by a Marion, Illinois woman was parked on the right shoulder and was also hit by the Honda Odyssey.
According to the accident report, the driver of the Odyssey and three young children in the Odyssey, a girl aged less than one and two boys aged two and four each had minor injuries and were taken to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau by private conveyance for treatment. All were buckled up.
The driver of the Pontiac was unhurt. She was also buckled up.
The Mitsubishi and the Honda were total losses and the Pontiac had moderate damage and were all towed by Boyd’s Towing.
The crash happened about 9:45 p.m.
