State board revokes licenses of two funeral directors

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The State Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors has revoked the licenses of Andrew Trammel Moore, funeral director license number 2001012178 and embalmer license number 2002003610 and Robert E. Schaefer, funeral director license number 005566 and embalmer license number 007091.

This action was taken due to violations of Sections 333.330 and 193.145 RSMo, as Moore provided false statements on a death certificate related to final disposition for one individual and failed to file a death certificate for another individual. Moore’s conduct caused harm to the family members of the deceased individuals in Butler County.

The revocation of these licenses means Moore can no longer represent himself as an embalmer or funeral director or perform functions that require an embalmer or funeral director license.

This action against Schafer was taken due to violations of Sections 333.330 and 193.145 RSMo, as Schaefer failed to complete a death certificate accurately and in a timely manner for one deceased individual. The board also found Schafer was grossly negligent when he failed to maintain a deceased individual in a secure manner, failed to maintain his funeral establishment in a secure and sanitary manner, and failed to maintain required records for deceased individuals in his care.

In addition to his failure to safeguard the deceased individual in his care, Schaefer’s conduct also jeopardized the public welfare. His failure to follow professional requirements violated the trust and confidence in him as a licensed professional while operating in Jefferson County.

The revocation of these licenses means Schaefer can no longer represent himself as an embalmer or funeral director or perform functions that require an embalmer or funeral director license.
