SGHS Speaking Dragons advance to state competition

STE. GENEVIEVE – The Ste. Genevieve High School Speaking Dragons earned second place in speech events and tied for first place in debate events at the MSHSAA District Tournament this past weekend.

 

 

To qualify for the state competition, students had to place first through fourth in their event.

 

The following students were finalists in the competition:

 

  • Caroline Roth – District champion in Dramatic Interpretation
  • Caiden Breeden and Tegan Graves – District champions in Duet Acting
  • Kyler Gugel – District champion in Radio Speaking and 3rd place in U.S. Extemporaneous Speaking
  • Ethan Boyer and Parker Meyer – 2nd place in Policy Debate
  • Lucy Hunsley – 2nd place in Prose Reading and 3rd place in Informative Speaking
  • Emily Merrifield – 2nd place in Lincoln-Douglas Debate and 4th place in Radio Speaking
  • Jackson and Kyler Gugel – 3rd place in Public Forum debate
  • Ashtyn Neel – 3rd place in Humorous Interpretation
  • Caroline Roth and Ashtyn Neel – 3rd place in Duo Interpretation
  • Elcie Schweigert – 4th place in Poetry Reading
  • Sophia Jordan and Hailey Wells – 5th place in Public Forum debate
  • Jackson Gugel – 7th place in Humorous Interpretation
