STE. GENEVIEVE – Six members of the Ste. Genevieve High School chapter of Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) participated in the Region 6 STAR Event competition held at Southeast Missouri State University last month.
All of the Ste. Genevieve students were named as the top winner in their division and will be advancing to the state competition, to be held next month at Tan-Tar-A.

Jayci Beckermann competed in Career Investigation, which includes researching a potential career and determining a future career path. Lana Kemper competed in National Programs in Action. Her project included raising funds to donate to the Down Syndrome Association of Greater St. Louis.
Trey Bloom also competed in National Programs in Action, developing a project to showcase the importance of mental and emotional health.
Elaina Schemel and Sophie DeRousse created fidget cuffs, donating them to a local hospital to help Alzheimer’s patients.
Emma K. competed in the Leadership event. For her project, she researched and assessed her current leadership skills and developed a plan to strengthen and improve for the future.
Also last month, the Region 6 FCCLA Officer Screening was held at Scott City High School.
