A celebration of life will be held Friday, February 6, 2026 for 69-year-old Vicki Lu Smith of Chester, Illinois,who passed away at 10:29 am, Friday, January 30, 2026 at her residence.
She was born April 19, 1956 in Lebanon, Illinois to the late Milton and Louise (nee Monroe) Hofmeister.
Vicki married Timothy Smith on December 10, 1983; he survives in Chester.
She is also survived by three children: Buffy (Mike) Uhl of Waterloo, IL, Mike Delay, Jr. of the state of Kentucky and Stephanie Delay of Chester, IL; 10 siblings: Dale Hofmeister of Saginaw, MI, Jeanette (Earl) Edgar of Mascoutah, IL, Linda (William) Seibert of Arlington, TN, Marsha Geimer of Pinckneyville, IL, Mark Hofmeister of Kingman, AZ, Ralph Hofmeister of Chester, IL, Terry Hofmeister of La Crosse, WI, Myra Hofmeister of Belleville, IL, Richard Hofmeister of Belleville, IL and Sharon Witmer of Ellis Grove, IL; eight grandchildren: Samantha, Nick, Breanna, Tristan, Rinoa, Gavin, Rylan and Anthony Delay; three great grandchildren: Destiny Jones, Eric Reed and Harper Delay; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers: Milton, Jr. and Roy Hofmeister and her in-laws: Amos and Madonna Smith.
She had worked at Solar Press, Spartan Light Metals and Gilster Mary-Lee Corporation.
Vicki was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Chester, Illinois.
She was a former Girl Scout leader.
Vicki enjoyed diamond art, puzzles, cross stitching and reading books.
She especially loved to spend time with her great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life for 69-year-old Vicki Lu Smith of Chester will be held from 3-5 p.m. Friday, February 6, 2026 at the Pechacek Funeral Homes in Chester, Illinois.
