A funeral mass will be held Saturday, January 31, 2026 for 65-year-old Douglas Joe Henson of Brazeau, Missouri who passed away Saturday, January 3, 2026 at Mercy Southeast in Cape Girardeau, MO.
He was born July 12, 1960 in Quincy, CA to Billie Joe and Barbara Cecile (Jorgenson) Henson.
Douglas and Rhonda Hardwick were high school sweethearts who got married late in life on May 25, 2013.
He enjoyed working on his miniature book nook models, playing his guitar, writing, reading, and listening to music. Douglas was an avid reader, especially reading the Bible and The Catholic Catechism. He never knew a stranger.
After a very short time as an admissions representative for Mercy Jefferson Hospital in Festus, Doug received the Daisy Award. The award is given to people who go above and beyond. Doug figured he was just doing the work of the Holy Spirit, but took the award with grace and humility.
He was a member of Christ the Savior Catholic Church in Brewer, MO.
Survivors include his wife, Rhonda; son, Ryan (Alexandria) Henson; two brothers, David (Terri) Henson, Mark Henson; sister-in-law, Terry Hill; three nieces, Nicole (Danny) Williams, Jennifer Henson, Donna (Larry) Williams.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral mass for 65-year-old Douglas Joe Henson of Brazeau will be held at 10 am Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Christ the Savior Catholic Church in Brewer with Rev. Tony Dosen C.M. officiating. The Rosary will be recited at 9:15 am. before Mass.
Burial will be at Christ the Savior Catholic Cemetery in Brewer.
There will be a Celebration of Life Service for Douglas at 4 pm Sunday, February 1, 2026 at Discover Life Church in Perryville.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Schools or St. Louis Senior Pet Rescue.
