R-II assistant superintendent announces departure

STE. GENEVIEVE – Ste. Genevieve County School District R-II Assistant Superintendent Dr. Lance McClard has announced he has accepted the position of superintendent for Cameron R-I Schools, effective July 1, 2026.

An R-II official stated in a news release, “While this next step marks an exciting professional opportunity for Dr. McClard and his family, his departure from Ste. Genevieve County R-II comes with a strong sense of gratitude and appreciation for his service to the district.”

 

The official noted “Over the past four years, Dr. McClard has worked closely with staff, students, families and community partners in support of student learning and district growth. During his time in SG R-II, he has supported districtwide initiatives focused on instructional improvement, real-world learning, student growth and long-term success beyond graduation. He and his family have also been active and engaged members of the Ste. Genevieve community.”

 

Dr. McClark stated in the news release, “The culture of this district and the strong relationships between schools, families and the community have made our family feel welcomed and supported. I want to thank the educators and staff who work each day to support students, families and one another. While leaving is bittersweet, I am excited to take the next step in my leadership career and for the opportunities it brings for my family.”

 

According to the news release, Dr. McClard will continue to serve SG R-II through the remainder of the school year and into a transition period.

 

“I am proud of the direction SG R-II is headed and confident in the strength of this district and its people,” he said. “Over the months ahead, I remain fully committed to supporting a smooth and thoughtful leadership transition and will continue working closely with Dr. Taylor, our administrative team and district leadership to ensure continuity and stability for staff and students.”

 

Cameron R-I School District officials announced Dr. McClard’s appointment following a comprehensive superintendent search process. In its announcement, the Cameron R-I Board of Education cited his more than 20 years of experience in public education, district-level leadership, and student-centered approach as key factors in their decision.

 

R-II Superintendent Dr. Paul Taylor stated, the district “is grateful for Dr. McClard’s dedication and the many contributions he has made to the district. Dr. McClard’s work has helped strengthen our district in meaningful ways, and his positive influence will continue to be felt across our schools and community. We wish him and his family the very best as they begin this next chapter.”

 

Dr. Taylor added, “Information regarding the next steps for SG R-II leadership planning will be shared with staff and families as we move forward.”
