Steeleville will play for 7th Place and Cobden will play for 3rd Place

CHESTER – Day No. 3 tipped off Wednesday January 7 in the 19th Annual Lady Jacket Mid-Winter Classic Tournament at Chester High School. Day 3 featured Dupo and Steeleville in Game 5 at 6:00 p.m. and Marissa and Cobden in Game 6 at 7:30 p.m.
Game 5: Dupo 44- Steeleville 41
Dupo and Steeleville battled throughout the entire 32 minutes of Game 5 with the outcome not decided until the final seconds. Dupo enjoyed a one point lead after one quarter of play, 11-10. At halftime, the Lady Tigers led, by three points, 18-15.
In the third quarter, Dupo outscored Steeleville, 11-7, to take a seven point lead, 29-22, into the 4th quarter. Down the stretch in the final 8:00 of regulation, the Lady Warriors outscored Dupo by seven points, 14-7, to force a 31-31 tie and overtime period. In overtime it was neck-and-neck until Dupo managed to get a three point lead at the final buzzer, 44-41.
The win advanced the Dupo Lady Tigers to the Consolation Championship Game Saturday January 10 at 1:30 p.m. vs the winner of Game 7 (Sparta or New Athens).
Steeleville will play the loser of Game 7 (Sparta vs New Athens) in the 7th Place Game at 12:00 Noon to kick off Day 5 Saturday January 10.
In the win, Dupo was led by two players, Demiyah Chairs who scored 14 points and Kylie Kloess who scored 10 points. Other contributors included Maryann Esser (8), Addison Mitchell (7), Lilly McMannis (4), and Keara Prater (1). The Tigers shot 38% (5-of-13) from the free throw line. They made one 3-pointer and 18 two-pointers.
In the loss, Steeleville was led by Raylan Reiss who scored 14 points. She was followed by Bailey Cole (9), Lynlee Rubach (7), Lily Hepp (5), Karsen Wedemeyer (4), and Hillari Cowan (2). The Lady Warriors made 11-of-24 free throws (46%). They also made four 3-pointers and nine 2-pointers.
Game 6: Marissa 60-Cobden 39
Marissa and Cobden fought hard and close in the first quarter with Cobden winning the first quarter, 9-7, after one quarter of play. The second quarter turned out to be devastating to Cobden as the Meteors outscored the Appleknockers by 14 points, 20-6, to take a 12 point lead, 27-15, into the locker room at the half.
The Marissa Meteors continued to fly high in the third quarter outscoring the Appleknockers by five points, 18-13, to lead by 17 points, 45-28, after three quarters. In the final frame, Marissa outscored Cobden by four points, 15-11, to secure the win, 60-39.
The loss placed the Cobden Appleknockers in the 3rd Place game Saturday January 10 at 3:00 p.m. They will play the loser of Game 8 (Trico vs Chester).
The win advanced the Marissa Meteors to the 2026 Championship game Saturday January 10 at 4:30 p.m. vs the winner of Game 8 (Trico vs Chester).
In the win, the Lady Meteors were led by two players who scored in double figures. Kennedy Trieb led all players on either team with 19 points. Biekert scored 10 points. Other contributors included Allie Seiber (9), Kearston Alstat (8), Kaitlyn Klingeman (6), Mya Alstat (6), and Payten Perry (2). Marissa-Coulterville shot 43% (3-of-7) from the free throw line. They also made seven 3-pointers and 18 two-pointers.
In the loss, the Cobden Lady Appleknockers were led by two players, Emma Young and Natalie Franklin who scored in double figures with 11 points apiece. Other scorers included Avery Ford (9), Mallory Adamitis (6), and Griffin (2). Cobden made 6-of-8 free throw (75%). They also made one 3-pointer and 15 two pointers.
