KANSAS CITY – The Mountain-Plains Information Office of the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics has released Business Employment Dynamics in Missouri – First Quarter 2025. Assistant Commissioner for Regional Operations Michael Hirniak noted these Missouri highlights:
- In Missouri, from December 2024 to March 2025, private industry establishments gained 132,889 gross jobs, while losing 131,147 gross jobs, resulting in a net gain of 1,742 jobs. (See chart 1.)
- Gross job gains represented 5.4% of private sector employment in Missouri in the first quarter of 2025, compared to the national rate of 5.6%.
- Gross job losses represented 5.2% of private sector employment in Missouri in the first quarter of 2025, compared to the national rate of 5.4%.
- Data are also available by industry sector. During the first quarter of 2025, gross job gains exceeded gross job losses in 4 of the 11 industry sectors in Missouri.
