Mary Pat Martin

A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 3, 2026 for 75-year-old Mary Pat Martin of St. Mary, Missouri, who passed away Saturday, December 21, 2025.

Mary (Pat) was born on August 10, 1950, in Chester to Norman “Bud” and Barbara Brown, who both preceded her in death.

Pat married Daniel Martin on April 19, 1968, and together they built a beautiful life. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by two sons: Shawn (Leann) Martin and Jason “Jake” Martin; three grandsons: Hunter Martin, Blayne Martin, and Gavin Martin; two siblings: Larry (Brenda) Brown and Connie (Paul) Sievers; a cat: Larry; and a large and loving group of nieces and nephews.

Pat was happiest with a good mystery novel in one hand and a cup of something warm in the other.

Her garden had nearly every flower imaginable, but the irises were the stars. Every shade, every shape – if it was an iris, she grew it, and she adored it.

Pat had opinions about just about everything and made sure you heard them, whether you asked or not, but that honesty was part of her charm.

She loved her people fiercely, showed up for everyone, and never missed a game when it came to supporting her favorite coaches and their teams – rain or shine.

She lived life straight-forward, wholehearted, and entirely in her own style.

She graduated from nursing school in 1982 and went on to pursue a long and fulfilling career in nursing.

A memorial will be held 1-3 p.m. Saturday, January 3, 2026, at the Basler Funeral Home.

Dinner celebration will follow at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Church Hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Missouri Botanical Garden’s Shaw Nature Reserve, or planting wildflowers anywhere that could use a little extra color.
