Genevieve “Genie” Weiss passed away Sunday, December 21, 2025 at her residence.
Genie was born May 30, 1938 in Dover General Hospital in Dover, New Jersey the daughter of William Edward and Gladys May (Taylor) Provost.
Genie and Henry were married October 17, 1981 in Wylie, Texas after a 12 year romance.
Genie moved to Hanford, California in 1954 with her parents where she attended Hanford High School Genie worked part time at the “Glider-In” a very well-known establishment in the area. She had to quit high school in 1956 during her Junior year to care for her semi-invalid father after her mother died. She bought a donut shop at the age of 17 in Hanford. She took classes and had training equivalent to two years of college. Genie moved to Plano, Texas in 1959 where she became a department manager for the F. W. Woolworth store. She spent 2 years there and then moved on to Texas Instruments Inc. where she met her husband, Henry. After 5 years at TI she then made the move to Spectradyne Inc. where she served as Purchasing Manager for several years until her health forced her retirement. During her retirement she volunteered for various organizations for 20 years. She became an Ombudsman for the state of Texas representing the residents of several nursing homes in the Dallas area. Genie won “Ombudsman of the Year” for the State of Texas Dallas. District after only 1 year in this capacity. This was a huge accomplishment that she was very proud of. In December of 2018 she and her husband moved from Plano, Texas to his hometown of Perryville, Missouri.
She is survived by her husband, Henry of Perryville, one sister: Norma Trosky of Yorktown, Virginia, two children: Jamie Lynn Costa of Gainsville, Florida and Michael Addison Curry of Caddo Mills, Texas. Two grand-children: Kelsey and Lane Curry; and four great-grand-children: Noah, Kaisley, Jessalynn and Damian Curry of The Colony, Texas and several nieces and nephews who live in Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister: Nila Lefke and one son: Randal Lee Curry.
Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 10:00 am on Wednesday, December 24, 2025 at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville.
Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Perryville
