Carol Ann Holley

Carol Ann Holley, 79, of Chester, IL, born December 5, 1945, in DuQuoin, IL, departed this life on October 28, 2025, in the Mercy DeGreef Hospice House in St. Louis, MO, surrounded by her family. 

 

Carol was a Coal Miner at Monterey Coal Mine in Albers, IL, until it closed in August 1996. Carol was involved in the Ladies Auxiliary Kaskaskia Post 3553. She was a devoted Cardinal fan and enjoyed bingo nights. Carol loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren who called her “Nana”.  

 

Carol is survived by her sister, Donna Phelps of Rockwood, IL, her brother, Tommy E. VanOver of Sparta, IL, her children: Carla (Alan) Draves of Chester, IL, Robert (Bobby) Holley of Chester, IL, Roger Holley of Waterloo, IL, Thomas (Tommy) Holley of Marissa, IL, and Darla Bates of Arnold, MO; her grandchildren: Chantel (Kyle) Thompson, Tara Willig, Tison (Megan) Holley, Roger Dale (Cheyenne) Holley, Abby Holley, Emily Holley, Sydney (Joey) Lodes and Blake Miller. 

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Roger L. Rice.

 

In accordance with her wishes, Cremation has taken place.

 

A Graveside service will be held at Cutler Cemetery, Cutler, IL, Friday, November 14, 2025, at 11:00 am.

 

A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at the VFW in Chester, IL.
