MAC Foundation launches enhancement grant campaign

PARK HILLS, Mo. – Mineral Area College (MAC) offers excellent, affordable education, changing the lives of countless students and strengthening the local workforce by preparing highly skilled and employable graduates.

Hoyer Lift: Nursing students gain experience in patient transfer using a Hoyer Lift purchased with Enhancement Grant campaign funds.

MAC’s commitment to educational excellence is dependent on providing a curriculum built upon industry standards and staying up to date on rapidly changing technology. These fundamental keys ensure that MAC graduates have the best opportunities for success. The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) also recognizes the high cost of meeting the dynamic needs of students and provides a matching grant opportunity of $3 to $1 for the development and expansion of quality career education.

The Mineral Area College Foundation is appealing to the community to help keep the college on the leading edge of preparing students for the workforce by donating to the annual Enhancement Grant fundraising campaign, which is underway now through December 31, 2025. Each year, the campaign provides a large portion of the funds required to purchase state-of-the-art equipment, curriculum, and training for students in career and technical programs.

Microscopes: Science students at MAC’s Cape Girardeau outreach center use microscopes purchased with Enhancement Grant funding.

The MAC Foundation successfully launched this year’s campaign with its new event, The President’s Ball: All In For MAC, which raised the first $50,000 for the Enhancement Grant Campaign. Individual donors are now invited to give and increase that amount. Donations to MAC Foundation’s Enhancement Grant campaign are eligible for the DESE match; so up to $400 in purchasing power is generated for every $100 raised.

“The successful launch of our campaign with the President’s Ball gives us a fantastic starting point for meeting the college’s needs. The generous giving of donors from our community is key to helping the college stay current with market trends, and every dollar raised now will be quadrupled thanks to the DESE match,” says Kevin Thurman, MAC Executive Director of Development.

Thurman says an easy way to give to this campaign is to give online at www.MineralArea.edu/AlumniFoundation.

Gifts are also accepted by mail at MAC Foundation, P.O. Box 1000, Park Hills, MO 63601, or call (573) 518-2114.
