A memorial service will be held Thursday, November 6, 2025 for 82-year-old Loretta Bievenue of Red Bud, Illinois, who passed away Friday, October 31, 2025, at Mercy Hospital South, St. Louis, Missouri.
She was born August 13, 1943 in Red Bud to Oscar and Veletha (nee Wegener) Koester who both preceded her in death.
Loretta married Ronald J. Bahl on August 9, 1985 in Chester, Illinois; he preceded her in death on September 30, 2009.
She is survived by her siblings: Darlene Bahr of St. Louis, MO; Pearl (Jerry) Joersz of St. Louis, MO; Gloria (Rich) Peterson of St. Louis, MO; Eunice (Ben) Smart of Lindale, GA; Karen (Paul) Powell of West Lafayette, IN; and Mark (Carolyn) Koester of St. Louis, MO; a sister in law: Lois Koester of St. Louis, MO; her former husband: Norman Bievenue of Red Bud, IL and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, two brothers: Oliver Koester and Omar Koester, and a brother-in-law: Bill Bahr.
Loretta had worked as a court reporter at the Randolph County Courthouse in Chester, Illinois for many years.
Loretta was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Red Bud, Illinois.
She cherished moments with her family and found joy in playing her favorite board game, Joker.
Loretta had a passion for gardening, spending her time nurturing her beautiful flowers.
Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Thursday, November 6, 2025 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Red Bud, Illinois.
