STE. GENEVIEVE – The Ste. Genevieve Board of Aldermen met in regular and work sessions Thursday, October 23.
The aldermen discussed a problem with the insurance for the upcoming Ste. Genevieve Holiday Christmas Festival parade.

The issue came up near the close of the meeting when Alderman Teddy Ross brought it up under “other business”.
Apparently the Holiday Christmas Festival was unable to indicate it had insurance when organizers went to city hall to get a parade permit. (Insurance is required for such events.)
Apparently there was some confusion about who was partnering with the organizers.
It was thought the Chamber of Commerce was, but that was incorrect.
Interim City Administrator David Bova said the city will partner with the organizers this year only, so that this year’s parade can go on.
He said they will have to find another partner for the future.
The discussion prompted a warning from the city attorney that items which were not on the agenda, could not be brought up at the meeting.
The rest of the meeting:
Interim City Administrator David Bova presented his report, 1:05 in the video.
The aldermen heard from Lt. Pollack who presented the police department (4:19) and Alliance representative Corey Litterest (8:40).
The consent agenda was approved (14:40), after the treasurer’s report and a street closure request were removed from it. Later, both the treasurer’s report and the street closure were approved individually.
The street closure is for the Sherwood Forest Festival November 15th. Merchant Street will be closed from Main to Third Streets, including the pergola on the corner of Merchant and Main. Second Street will also be closed between Market and Merchant Streets. The closing will begin at 6 a.m. November 15 and conclude at 4 p.m. November 15.
