WASHINGTON — U.S. Senator Eric Schmitt’s (R-MO) resolution honoring Missouri’s B-2 pilots and all servicemembers involved with Operation Midnight Hammer has passed the U.S. Senate with unanimous consent.
“Operation Midnight Hammer is a testament to the competence and bravery of the Air Force personnel at Whiteman Air Force Base and a clear demonstration of the lethality and unparalleled war-fighting capabilities of our military. The precision strikes decimated Iranian nuclear facilities and played a key role achieving a ceasefire between Israel and Iran. The brave men and women involved in this operation are heroes, and I am proud to see my resolution honoring their service and success pass the Senate,” said Senator Schmitt.
Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Katie Britt (R-AL), Ted Budd (R-NC), Tom Cotton (R-AR), Ted Cruz (R-TX), Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS), David McCormick (R-PA), James Risch (R-ID), Rick Scott (R-FL), Tim Sheehy (R-MT), and Dan Sullivan (R-AK) co-sponsored Senator Schmitt’s resolution.

Background:
- On June 21, 2025, seven B-2 Spirit stealth bombers deployed from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri, flying nonstop for 37 hours to deploy Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP) bombs on Iran’s Fordow and Natanz nuclear facilities.
- In close coordination with the air strikes, a U.S. submarine launched more than two-dozen Tomahawk land attack missiles, striking Isfahan, a third critical Iranian nuclear facility.
