Oscar Vivian Doza Jr.

Oscar Vivian Doza Jr. age 84 of Festus, Mo. Died on Saturday September 20, 2025 at Crystal Oaks in Festus Mo. He was born on February 6,1941. He was the son of the late Oscar V. Doza Sr. and the late Dorothy (Smith) Doza.

 

He was married to the late Leanne (Herman) Doza for 55 years. He is survived by one son, Chad M. Doza of Kansas City Mo.  He is also survived by brother in law Wayne Herman of Hillsboro Mo, Leon (Eileen) Herman of Zell Mo., Ronald Herman (Angi) of Perryville, Mo., and Gene (Cheyle) Herman of Festus, MO. and Sister in laws Barb (late Robert) Herman, and Gwen (late Richard) Herman of Ste Genevieve. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his father Vivian, mother Dorothy, wife Leanne, and sisters Carol (late Lloyd) Bates of Herculaneum Mo. and Janice (late Marty) Gephardt of Festus.

 

Oscar was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Festus, NRA, and Zell-Weingarten Deer Club. He worked as a mechanic and then in maintenance at Soundelier and Nordyne factories.

 

He enjoyed spending as much time as possible at their property and cabin in northern Missouri where he hunted deer, turkey and fished. He loved to build deer stands and turkey blinds and each one was unique from the previous one he built. He named the cabin “The Stag Shack” and came up with a name for every deer stand. The Cabin crew gave Oscar the German nickname of “The Meister” meaning “master” or “expert” because there wasn’t almost anything he couldn’t repair or build.

 

Visitation will be at Basler Funeral Home in Sainte Genevieve, MO on Thursday, September 25, 2025 from 8:30 am till 10:30 am.

 

Service will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Zell, MO

 

There will be a Celebration of Life at the Jaycees Hall in Zell following graveside service.

 

Donations can be made to St Vincent De Paul, Crystal City or Sacred Heart Church in Festus Mo.
