STE. GENEVIEVE – A 21-year-old Festus was arrested following a high speed chase through Ste. Genevieve late Friday night.
According to reports, police picked up a white Dodge Ram without lights going 120 mph southbound on Highway 61 north of Bloomsdale.
The chase moved quickly through the county and then entered the Ste. Genevieve city limits.
The pickup blew through both traffic signals on Highway 61 in town and then reportedly went off road in the Big Field just past Ste Gen towing. The soybean field slowed the pick up to 45. He made it to the railroad tracks and trains were halted. The driver got the Ram off the tracks and then wrecked the pickup trying to get back onto 61 near the JayCee Hall.
Ketcherside was taken to the Ste. Genevieve County jail on a 12-hour hold. Two passengers in the pick up reportedly had minor injuries.
There were reports that two squad cars were damaged in the chase, but that could not be confirmed before going to press.
Any possible city charges and possible county charges are pending. The entire chase lasted about 15 minutes..
