PVFD responds to fire at former St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store

PERRYVILLE — The Perryville Fire Department was called out Friday afternoon by a report of a commercial structure fire in the building that formerly housed the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store at 312 N. West Street.

 

The call came in at 2:02 p.m. via 911. The first fire truck on scene reported fire in the rear of the structure under an overhang with the fire spreading into the building. The firefighters put out the fire and then completed an overhaul.

 

TheChester Fire Department was called out to assist with a tanker under a mutual aid agreement, but they were disregarded enroute.

 

The fire report added that the building had no electrical service.

 

The Missouri fire marshall’s office was called in to investigate the cause of the fire.

 

According to the fire department report, the building is now owned by the Community Counseling Center which recently relocated to the former police department building which is nearby.
