MU Extension offers diabetes self-management class

PERRYVILLE, Mo. – The University of Missouri Extension in Perryville is partnering with the Regional Arthritis Center to offer a free diabetes self-management program, beginning Thursday, August 28, 2025.

 

The six-week program series is scheduled to be held at the Perry County Extension Center on Thursdays, August 28; September 4, 11, 18, 25; and October 2 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

 

The weekly sessions are for individuals who have Diabetes or who are a caregiver for someone with Diabetes. Bethany Bachmann and Kelley Brent, MU Extension Nutrition and Health Specialists, will share practical information, including eating well and exercise, establishing self-care routines, relaxation and handling difficult emotions, problem-solving to address barriers, communicating with healthcare professionals, and managing medications.

 

There is no charge to attend thanks to funding from the Regional Arthritis Center and the Perry County Extension Council. Participants receive the book, Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions, and a Relaxation for the Mind and Body CD.
