Chicago French Heritage Society launches ‘Save the Ferry’ petition drive

CHICAGO – WE NEED YOUR HELP! The (Ste. Genevieve-) Modoc Ferry is more than just transportation — it’s a vital lifeline for the Mid-Mississippi Valley community.

Running between Ste. Geneviève, MO and Modoc, IL, this ferry serves a number of functions.

It connects workers across the river, and provides jobs for Illinois locals, transports people and their vehicles, and offers visitors a one of a kind experience.

The (Ste. Genevieve-)Modoc Ferry provides ready access to many historic sites in the French Heritage Corridor including Ste. Geneviève, MO and Fort de Chartres, Pierre Menard Home, and Kaskaskia State Historic Park in Illinois.

It is also one of the oldest ferries in the Midwest, starting operation in 1799!

If you are an Illinois resident, please Click the link https://senatorbryant.com/save-the-modoc-ferry-petition/ and sign the petition so we can keep this historic and hardworking ferry afloat!

MERCI!
