PERRYVILLE – The University of Missouri Extension in Perry County will host a MyChart training class designed to equip seniors with the essential skills and confidence needed to navigate and manage their healthcare online. MyChart, a secure online patient portal, offers convenient access to medical records, test results, prescription renewals, appointment scheduling, and direct communication with healthcare teams
.
This program aims to bridge the digital divide for seniors, allowing them to take a more active role in their healthcare journey. The initiative is particularly timely, given the increasing reliance on online platforms for managing medical needs and the importance of secure access to personal health information.
Participants will become familiar with MyChart features including how to review test results, schedule appointments and how to communicate with healthcare providers.
The class will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 from 10:00 -11:00 a.m. at the MU Extension office in Perry County located at 321 N. Main Street, Suite 1. To register, call the MU Extension office at 573-547-4504. The deadline to register is Monday, August 25. The class is free and targets seniors age 55 and older.
MyChart for Seniors was developed by Senior Planet from AARP. In Perry County, the program is being offered with support from the Perry County Extension Council, Perry County Senior Tax Commission and Aging Matters.
