A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 23, 2025 for 89-year-old Doreen L. Carpenter of New Wells, Mo. passed away Friday, August 15, 2025 at her residence.
She was born July 22, 1936 in Altenburg, Mo. to Elmer and Lorna (Haase) Schmidt who both preceded her in death.
She married William Carpenter in St. Louis, Mo. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter: Denise O’Brien Stacey of New Wells, Mo.; two grandchildren: Shawn O’Brien of Altenburg, Mo., and Derek O’Brien of Derby, Kans.; two brothers: Ronald (Arylss) Schmidt of Altenburg, Mo. and Robert (Diane) Schmidt of Altenburg, Mo.; five great-grandchildren: Brandon O’Brien, Brittany O’Brien, Brionna O’Brien, Cade O’Brien, and Braxton O’Brien; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter: Jenice Fuery; two brothers: Merlin Schmidt and Clifford Schmidt.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg, where she was baptized.
Doreen was retired from Concordia Publishing House.
She loved doing embroidery work, collecting hats, taking cruises, playing on her tablet, and was crazy about her beloved dogs Sandee and Penny.
Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg.
A memorial service for 89-year-old Doreen L. Carpenter will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg with the Rev. Frank Lucas officiating.
Burial will be at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery in Altenburg.
