JEFFERSON CITY — A 59-year-old man from Murfreesboro, Tenn. received minor injuries in a traffic crash on I-55 in Ste. Genevieve County early Thursday morning.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the driver was taken to Mercy Hospital Jefferson for treatment.
The patrol says the crash happened when the 2016 Nissan Frontier the man was driving north on I-55 traveled off the right side of the roadway, went down a steep embankment and struck several trees. The Nissan was a total loss and was removed by Ste. Gen County Towing.
The crash happened about 4 a.m. at the 162 mile market.
Later that morning 59-year-old Bruce T. Newport of Murfreesboro was charged with driving while intoxicated while a patient at Mercy Hospital Jefferson.
