A funeral mass will be held Saturday, July 19, 2025 for 83-year-old Stanley Earl Schilling of Prairie du Rocher, Ill., who passed away peacefully at his home June 29, 2025.
He was born February 12, 1942 in Red Bud, Ill. to Rita Wicklein and Bert Schilling, who both preceded him in death.
He graduated from Chester High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army.
He married Colleen Godier. They were devoted partners for 60 years. She survives in Prairie du Rocher.
Together they had two children: Colette Gremaud (Scott Brewer) of Perryville and Shannon Schillingof Perryville. He was a proud grandfather to Sean Gremaud and Nicolette Gremaud of St. Louis.
He enjoyed gardening and caring for animals of all kinds over the years, especially his beloved dogs and horses.
Stanley worked and retired from Consolidated Coal as a United Mine Worker. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 622.
Visitation will be 8-10 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2025 at St. Joseph’s Church in Prairie du Rocher.

A meal will follow at noon.
Memorials may be made to the St. Louis Children’s Hospital and St. Joseph’s Church.
