Landeros balances college, Air Force Reserves and is now the area’s newest Realtor

CHESTER – Jared Landeros of Chester is well known in his hometown of Chester, Illinois for his athletic ability, ethics and hard work as a Chester High School YellowJacket athlete. Since his graduation from CHS in 2022, however, he has stepped up his professional expertise in several areas.

Finally, he is just two classes away from completing as Associates Degree in Logistics from Southwestern Illinois College (SWIC). At the ripe, young, age of 21 he has branched out to expand his career choices and is actively involved in the United States Air Force, studying at Southwestern Illinois College (SWIC) to earn a degree in Logistics, and he just completed a course in Real Estate and passed his test to become the area’s newest Real Estate Broker!
Landeros is well known as a hard, dedicated worker. He was a good student at Chester High School and immediately joined the United States Air Force after graduation. He then began his collegiate career at SWIC and now has added his newest career interest, Real Estate Brokerage, to his resume. He is now very excited about being able to serve the Southern Illinois area with his new position as Broker with the “REAL” BROKERAGE AGENCY, LLC in Edwardsville, Illinois.
Jared was born August 21, 2004 in Chester, Illinois to Horacio “Flaco” Landeros and Patricia “Paty” Landeros. He joins older sister Jocelyn and younger brother Karim in rounding out the Landeros family of five.
Landeros attended St. Mary’s Catholic School for his elementary education. As a St. Mary’s Hawk, Jared enjoyed being on the Hawk’s Basketball, Baseball, and Track teams. His excellent study habits and academic success earned him a place in the St. Mary’s Junior Beta Club, and he joined the CGS Band where he learned to play the trumpet. He graduated from 8th Grade at St. Mary’s in 2018.
Following completion of his elementary education Jared continued his secondary education as a Chester Yellow Jacket at Chester High School. At CHS Jared was a popular, very likeable student.
His senior year, Landeros earned IHSA Class 2A All-State Academic Team status. He played Football, Basketball, where he accomplished reaching the “1000th Career Mark” in scoring, and he played on the YellowJacket Golf Team for one year.
He was also a member of the CHS Summit Chapter of the National Honor Society. He served as a reporter for the “STING” school newspaper, and he was active in the Chester Chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). In his spare time, Jared loves working out in the gym and hanging out with friends. He graduated from CHS in May of 2022.
In September of 2022 Jared enlisted in the United States Air Force. He had several offers to play basketball at the collegiate level, but decided to pursue an Air Force career immediately after high school.
He attended boot camp at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas where he earned the title and job of being an “Element Leader”. Landeros said, “I was quite proud to have been selected to be a boss, or leader of other members of our unit at the age of just 18 years old. There were 40 members in our Boot Camp Unit and one other member and I were selected to help train and lead the 40-member unit!”
As an Element Leader Landeros and his co-leader help lead training activities, physical fitness, educational classes, obstacle course training drills, and back pack exercises in which the entire 40-person unit spent long hikes through Texas.
After Boot Camp Landeros attended Tech School to learn his Air Force job of Material Management. He is now trained to order and provide all of the various supplies for the jets that protect the American skies! He graduated from Tech School as a Specialist 2S051.
In November of 2023 Jared was assigned to Scott Air Force Base where he had “hands-on” job training as a Material Management Specialist. He then became a member of the United States Air National Guard. He attends National Guard training and meetings one weekend a month. To date he has been on “multiple military trips” around the globe.
In 2023 following Air Force Boot Camp, Landeros began his collegiate career at Southwestern Illinois College (SWIC). He is currently in his second year at SWIC where he is pursuing an Associate’s Degree in Logistics, which fits in well with his Air Force job training as a Material Management Specialist. He is just two classes short of completing his course of study.
As if his life isn’t busy enough for Mr. Landeros, Jared recently became interested in the field of real estate. Last July of 2024, he began training to be a Realtor in the State of Illinois. May 1st 2025 Landeros passed his test to become a licensed realtor.
A month later, June 4th 2025, he was hired by the “Real Broker, LCC”, Agency in Edwardsville, Illinois as a Realtor serving the Southern Illinois area.
Landers said, “I will be able to serve customers in the entire Southern Illinois area including Chester. I will also have the advantage of serving in the Military Division and assist with PCS cases (Place Change Stations) or Military Relocations. Military personnel are relocated quite often and I, being a military employee, will have a direct advantage in assisting personnel find housing when they are re-assigned to new bases.”
Landeros works hand-in-hand with lenders who handle VA Loans. He is bi-lingual, so that is another special advantage he has for customers who are not fluent in the English language. Further, Jared is a member of the Blaylock Group.
In closing his interview for this article, Jared said, “I am licensed, and ready to start closing deals! I am ready to open doors and help change people’s lives!”
