Ste. Gen Museum welcomes Vietnam Vet, Author

The Sainte Genevieve Museum Learning Center welcomes Vietnam Vet and author, Mel Carney to its speaker series this evening at 7 pm at the Orris theater.the program is sponsored by Robinson Construction.

Carney says it’s very difficult to explain combat to a non-combat person. This is something many veterans struggle with, but it’s important to talk about it, and in Carney’s case, write about it.
A platoon leader at only 23 years old, hear his compelling story of his time in Vietnam as well as stories from other veterans.
His new book “I’m Ready to Talk, Kansas City” presents stories from veterans about the time they served in or were in support of combat units. The stories included are from: A WWII Marine Pilot shot down in the Pacific, a USS Pueblo crewman who was captured and spent eleven months in a North Korean POW camp, stories from veterans from most of the branches who served during the Vietnam War, and one veteran who served in Afghanistan.

Presentation is free to museum members, otherwise admission will apply.
