Missouri’s online job postings were down in May

JEFFERSON CITY – There were 59,040 new job postings in Missouri in May 2025, according to data from Lightcast™.

 

This was lower than the 63,560 postings in April 2025.

 

The Heath Care and Social Assistance industry had the most postings statewide and in six of the nine regions.

 

The St. Louis Region had 3,820 Health Care and Social Assistance job postings in May 2025, followed by the Kansas City (2,150), Central (1,050), Ozark (640), and North (560) regions.

 

Job Demand

 

Job postings decreased 3.4 percent from March 2024 to March 2025.

 

In March 2025,  there were 62,330 online job postings compared to 64,540 in March 2024.

 

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 3.8 percent in Missouri in March 2025 was higher than last month’s (February 2024) rate of 3.7 and last year’s (March 2024) rate of 3.6 percent.

 

Top Occupations

 

The following chart shows the top 10 occupations with the most online job postings in March2025 compared to the number of online job postings in March 2024. Online job postings for Fast Food and Counter Workers had the largest increase (22 percent), while Registered Nurses had the largest decrease in online job postings (30 percent).

Top Industries

 

The following chart shows the industries with the most online job postings in March 2025 compared to the online job postings in March 2024. Wholesale Trade had the largest increase (20 percent) compared to 2024, while Educational Services had the largest decrease (-26 percent).
