STE. GENEVIEVE – The Ste. Genevieve Police Department has announced that during a routine traffic stop for a broken taillight at 8:42 p.m. June 19, it was discovered that the driver had a prior criminal history involving cocaine.
K9 Ozzy was deployed to assist with the investigation.
The department stated “following a positive alert from Ozzy, a search of the vehicle was conducted. During the search, a substance was located that field tested positive for cocaine.”
“We commend K9 Ozzy and our officer for their vigilance and dedication to keeping illegal drugs off our streets” an unnamed police official stated. “This incident is a reminder that even the smallest violations can lead to uncovering larger criminal activity.”
The suspect was arrested and transported to the Ste. Genevieve County Jail.
Charges, if any, filed against the subject, who was not named in the report were not disclosed.
