A celebration of life will be held at a future date for 84-year-old David Bernard Zahner of Perryville, Missouri who passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at Mercy Jefferson Hospital in Festus, Mo.
He was born August 17, 1940 in Perry County, MO to Lonnie and Lucille (Miles) Zahner, who both preceded him in death.
Survivors include a daughter: Tamara (Randall) Rellergert; a son: Thomas (Kelly) Zahner; a brother: Larry Zahner; five sisters: Mary Kirn, Debbie (Denny) Thieret, Linda Hudson, Margie Loos, and Lawana Kirn; two sisters-in-law: Pris Zahner and Margie Zahner; two grandchildren: Danielle Rellergert and Garrett Rellergert; two great-grandchildren: Bret Johnson, and Serenity Johnson.
He was also preceded in death by his step-mother: Gladys Zahner; two brothers: Ron Zahner and Dale Zahner; and four brothers-in-law: Don Kirn, Cecil Hudson, Dick Loos, and Sylvester Kirn.
David retired after 30 years from Chrysler. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, working in his garage and watching westerns. According to David he made the best BBQ ribs around!
He was a proud member of the River Hills Eagles Club, American Legion Post #133, Am Vets Post #94.
He spent many hours socializing, having dinner and playing the gambling machine. He always thought he would hit the big one!
Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association.
