STE. GENEVIEVE, Mo. – The Extension Master Gardener program provides in-depth horticultural training for Missourians who wish to share their knowledge of gardening. The Core Course training will be held on Monday nights, from July 14 to October 6, at 6–9 PM, at the Progress Sports Complex, which is located at 1300 Progress Parkway in Ste Genevieve.
The mission of the Missouri Master Gardener Extension Program is “helping others learn to grow.” Graduates of the class volunteer their time applying what they have learned to help others in their communities to learn about gardening and environmental education. The program covers the subjects of plant anatomy, soils and fertility, ornamentals, fruits and brambles, vegetable gardening, lawn care, insects, landscaping, plant propagation and plant disease.
This program raises public awareness of the University of Missouri Extension as a source of unbiased, research-based gardening information. Through activities such as Extension newsletter articles, workshops, speaker’s bureaus, garden show booths, and demonstration projects, Master Gardeners provide gardening information to thousands of Missourians each year.
To become trained as an Extension Master Gardener, an individual must attend the 30-hour training course and provide 30 hours of volunteer service back to their community.
Participants must register by July 10 by stopping by the office or visiting https://extension.missouri.edu/events/master-gardener-training-ste-genevieve-county
