PRAIRIE DU ROCHER – The Lewis & Clark Chapter of the Illinois Society of Sons of the American Revolution recently presented the Law Enforcement Commendation Medal and Certificate posthumously to Officer Jason P. Roscow. His parents, Ann and Ervin Roscow of Prairie du Rocher, accepted.

Officer Roscow lost his life February 17 at age 46 in the line of duty with the North Las Vegas Police Department, which he had served for 17 years. The NLVPD reported that he earned its Exemplary Service Award for outstanding performance under challenging conditions in the traffic division.
Officer Roscow was born in Belleville and grew up in Prairie du Rocher, where he served as a fireman. After he graduated from Red Bud High School he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served as a security officer in South Korea, Iraq and Kuwait.
A funeral for Officer Roscow was held February 17 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prairie du Rocher. Burial followed in the church cemetery. By order of Governor J.B. Pritzker, all United States and Illinois flags at state facilities were flown at half-mast February 15-17 in remembrance of Officer Roscow.
