Ste. Gen man hurt in three car crash caused by wayward pooch

JEFFERSON CITY – A dog is getting the blame for a three-car traffic crash on I-55 in St. Louis County which sent three persons to Mercy Hospital South for treatment of minor injuries.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports one of the injured persons, a 52-year-old man, is from Ste. Genevieve.

According to the report, the three vehicles were traveling northbound on the interstate when a dog ran into the path of the lead vehicle. The driver, a 51-year-old woman from Arnold, applied her brakes. The vehicle following her, driven by the Ste. Genevieve man, was unable to slow down in time and struck the rear of the lead vehicle. The third vehicle, driven by a 34-year-old Imperial man, then plowed into the second vehicle.

The crash happened about 6:20 a.m. Sunday north of Meramac Bottom Road.

All three drivers were buckled up.

The Ste. Genevieve man’s car and the Imperial man’s car each had moderate damage and the Arnold woman’s car had minor damage. All three were removed by Miner’s Towing.
