A funeral will be held Friday, May 30, 2025 for 84-year-old Robert P. Gustafson of Sainte Genevieve, Mo., who passed away Sunday, May 25, 2025.
He was born November 3, 1940 to Reuben W. Gustafson and Helen (Siebert) Gustafson, who both preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife: Judy C. Gustafson; a son: Robert B. (Julie) Gustafson; a daughter: Janet Gustafson (Michael Corwin) Linton; a stepson: Gregary (Stephanie) Matthiesen, a brother: James (Betty) Gustafson; a granddaughter: Isabelle M. (Samuel Dawson) Gustafson, a grandson: Benjamin R. Gustafson; a granddaughter: Anna J. Linton; a grandson: Carter R. Matthiesen; a granddaughter: Gabrielle O. Matthiesen; his mother-in-law: Frances N. Davidson; a sister-in-law: Judith Gustafson, and many nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his wife: Jane B. Gustafson; two brothers: Charles Gustafson and John (Anne) Gustafson.
He was a member of Fellow Life Management Institute (FLMI), American Legion Post 150, VFW Post 2210, Faith Baptist Church, Ste. Genevieve Golf Club, Kiwanis Club of Meramec Valley Member, KC0J Amateur Radio, Lake Forest Association Board Member and a GFWC International Booster (Mens) Member.
Robert proudly joined the United States Navy as a junior officer and served his country during the Vietnam War aboard the U.S.S. Boyd as an LTJG.
He graduated from the University of Minnesota, Washington University, and St. Louis University.
Robert was retired from General American Life Insurance Company/MetLife and Maritz.
Robert’s hobbies included: aviation as a private pilot, photography, amateur “ham” radio, golfing, building model trains, and boating in Lake Forest.
He will be dearly missed by his friends and family.
Visitation will be 9-10:30 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2025 at the Basler Funeral Home in Sainte Genevieve, Mo.

Burial will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in Saint Louis, MO with a graveside service performed by VFW Post 2210.
